Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists he is not worried about his team’s recent drop in form.
The Gunners have become specialists in set-pieces, with the Gunners having scored the most goals from corners in the Premier League since the start of last season (23), but in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham, 75% of their xG came from corners.
Arsenal came close to beating Manchester United 2-0 with both goals coming from corners, leading to criticism that they didn’t produce enough goals in other areas as they did from set-pieces.
However, Arteta claims Arsenal’s set-piece expertise comes from their open play to create free-kicks and corners.
“I’m not worried because when I look at the game (against Fulham) again, the situations we had in open play, what the opposition created in open play, I don’t know if we could have done more, especially when I look at Fulham and all the other teams they’ve played against.”
“And because set pieces are a result of what we do in open play and how we defend, and it’s part of your play,”
Arteta then picked up two bottles of water and said: ‘You see this (one) is a set-piece and this (the other) is open play and I see it as open play and set-pieces, it suits all styles.
“We want to create as many ยูฟ่าเบท chances as possible from every angle. From set pieces we could have created more and scored one or two more goals. We are always trying to improve and get better.”
